And, explore small-scale craft from artists with Japanese heritage in Japanese Studio Craft at RAM. Also, view artworks new to RAM since the donation of over 200 polymer pieces in Polymer Art: Recent Acquisitions. Beer and wine will be available for purchase during evening hours. Drawing inspiration from RAM’s current exhibitions, create art about nature during the free family hands-on art project, 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Racine Arts Council, 409 Sixth Street – Now on display: Chaos and Order, an exhibition of new works by abstract artist Blase E. Masini. Chaos and Order is a collection of paintings that uses cold wax medium to create rich organic surfaces. The artist uses stencils and collage to introduce form. The painting process holds a constant tension between chaos and order. The artist will be in attendance during First Fridays, June 1st from 6-9:00 PM to discuss his artwork and techniques. Chaos and Order will runs May 4, 2018 through June 1, 2018.
Come explore the circus in Racine through the featured exhibit “The Greatest Show: The Little Known Story of Racine and the Circus” at the Racine Heritage Museum, located at 701 Main Street, during June First Fridays. Racine native Dan Castello and his partner W.C. Coup of Delavan were some of the first to use special railroad cars for their traveling circus in the 1860s – 20 years before the Ringling Brothers. Come see circus posters, photographs and more related to Racine’s rich circus history spanning over 100 years. RHM is open until 8pm on First Fridays and admission is free.
