RAM, at 441 Main Street, invites you to enjoy free admission and extended hours from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Friday, November 1. Families are invited to weave a beautiful Tapestry—inspired by artist Trude Guermonprez—during RAM’s Free Family Hands-On Art Project from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, Racine’s own Mark Hertzberg will give a talk about the subject of his new photography book, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Penwern: A Summer Estate. Some of Wright’s lesser-known masterpieces are the more than 40 summer cottages he designed in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ontario. Among them is this publication’s subject, Penwern, a stunning estate on Delavan Lake in Southern Wisconsin. Following Hertzberg’s talk will be a book signing in the Museum Store, which carries all of his Wright publications. To reserve a seat at this talk, please call the museum reception desk at 262.638.8300. Event capacity is limited, so it is suggested to arrive early or RSVP beforehand. Currently featured at RAM are four exhibitions in the fall OBJECTS REDUX series, which features concurrent exhibitions—primarily drawn from the museum’s collection—that commemorate and explore OBJECTS: USA, a landmark exhibition that traveled across the country and overseas beginning in 1969. True to its time in history, OBJECTS: USA showcased artists who pushed material and conceptual boundaries in craft media—investigating materials and artistic concepts while beginning to overtly question social, political, environmental, and cultural issues.
