Photographic Design Gallery & Framing, 411 Sixth Street, will feature accomplished artist Susan Wente on First Friday, October 5th, and through the month of October. Susan’s acrylic paintings, which mix realism with drama from the artist’s imagination, are inspired by the beauty of our Wisconsin landscape. Susan’s education includes a BA in art history from UW-Madison, an art education degree from UW-Parkside and an MA in art education from Carthage College. She taught art for many years in Racine’s parochial schools and in the Racine Unified schools. Providing music for the evening will be cellist Nolan Boerner.

Racine Arts Council’s ArtSpace Gallery is pleased to present “Displaced: A PhotoVoice Project.” The project trains under privileged and homeless teens in photography, equips them to capture their life experiences on film, and displays their work in the community in which they live. The work exhibited captures the teens’ life experiences and offers them a voice to be heard by the community at large. The show is curated by Dominic Kegel, a local educator and media professional who trained the teens in the art of photography. All photographs are for sale for $30 with 100% of the profits going to the Displaced teen artists. Displaced will run from Friday, September 7 through Friday, October 19, 2018.
